Role Profile

White Goods Engineer – Dundee (Also operating in Aberdeen on a frequent basis)

Hours

Full Time (39 hours)

Overall Purpose of Job

To provide a comprehensive after sales service to our customers, repairing domestic appliances in our customer’s homes. Provide excellent technical services, whilst operating within a safe working environment and following company best practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintaining contact with customers to keep them up to date with expected arrival time.
• Conduct thorough assessment of the product on arrival completing diagnostic checks to confirm the fault or repair required.
• Communicate effectively with customers whilst in their home keeping them informed and updated whilst diagnosing and repairing the product.
• Apply technical skills and knowledge to provide a complete repair service for customers aiming to fix appliances 1st time every time.
• Demonstrate care and respect for customers property and appliances.
• Maintain contact with the service centre to communicate any incidents that prevent a first time fix for the customer and arrange any follow up visits or loan items for the customer.
• Manage van stock maintaining appropriate levels in line with the company inventory policy.
• Complete daily debrief detail completed and part complete jobs ensuring van stock is reviewed and ordered accordingly.
• Feedback technical issues to the Engineering Services team and seek advice/guidance where appropriate for new models/issues.

Key Measures

• First time fix rate at 80% or above.
• Management of van stock
• Cost of repair
• Customer recommendations/complaints/damages

Skills and Competencies

• Delivers excellent customer service, building customer confidence.
• Demonstrates technical competence in testing, installation and repair of domestic appliances
• Demonstrates organisational skills and is confident organising own time
• Excellent communication skills
• Is self motivated to achieve high standards
• Physically fit to handle/move appliances safely and correctly.

Education/Knowledge

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Maths and English qualification as minimum requirement
• City & Guilds qualifications.
• Driving licence

Experience

• Experience working in a field based role
• Demonstrates commitment to excellent customer service
• Effective communication skills, including telephone communication and customer facing

Essential

• Full driving licence
• Previous in-home service experience
• Physically fit to handle/move appliances safely and correctly
• Completion of basic disclosure process
