Job Description

The Operations Director’s job purpose is the entire manufacturing process including production, continuous improvement, facilities management and environmental health and safety.  To ensure the business operates in a cost effective manner and meets customer requirements.

Technical Duties

  • Identify constraints within the manufacturing areas due to inefficient outdated processes. Identify the latest technology to remove these constraints within the framework of the business.
  • Ensure smart targets are set within the operational areas
  • Implement continuous improvement techniques and  to deliver bottom line savings to the business
  • Facilitate the introduction of new products and processes into the business vast ensuring continually are supplied to the customer.
  • Ensure capital expenditure programmes delivery the cost benefits identified
  • Identify inefficiencies utilising OEE techniques and remove these to ensure efficient recovery of the labour hours
  • Direct operations to ensure 100% OTIF is achieved to all customers
  • Ensure all direct reports operate within the policies and procedures defined by the company
  • Direct health and safely environmental activities to ensure compliance within current and future legistive requirements

Quality

  • Comply within internal and external control quality procedures

Communications

  • Liaise with clients in person by telephone or in writing
  • Supply monthly process reports to the general manager
  • record information for audit purposes
  • Training and support responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for subcontractors and suppliers
  • Support colleagues and direct reports in training and staff
  • Show day to day staff duties as requested

Service Management

  • Comply with health and safety and security policies of company
  • Attend production team meetings and performance appraisals
  • Any other duties that are in consistent with the grades and other senior staff

You must be educated to degree level or hold an equivalent qualification or extensive work experience.  The post holder may be required to work shifts, additional hours may be required on an ongoing basis this is to make sure that pereset tasks are completed in a timely manner.

The postholder is required to exercise considerable judgement over when to involve other senior staff.
