Key Responsibilities

The General Manager will have overall accountability for all aspects of the day to day running of the cinema. The position reports directly to Head Office.

The Manager will need to demonstrate a good understanding of all of the systems and functions of the business, including the kiosk and licensed bar, and be able to fulfil any role as required to enable the site to run efficiently and safely.

Responsible for Health and Safety at the cinema and for ensuring that legislation is complied with, the successful applicant will have responsibility for all fire safety and first aid on site.

The Manager will be responsible for recruiting, inducting, training and developing staff, including conducting annual performance appraisals and regular 3 monthly supervisions. He /she will also (in conjunction with HR) deal with any staff disciplinary / grievance issues, ensuring issues are treated promptly, fairly and in accordance with Company policy and UK legislation.

The Manager will work with the Group Film Booker to arrange the timing and choice of screenings and be responsible for all publicity, marketing and PR. He/she will have responsibility for promoting the cinema, building audience figures and increasing sale of merchandise.

The Manager will have overall responsibility for all stock management with a view to maximising turnover.

The position holds overall responsibility for the appearance and cleanliness of the venue, to ensure that maintenance issues or concerns are dealt with promptly and that all areas whether public or private are kept clean and tidy and in good order.

The successful applicant will be expected to be fully conversant with digital projection equipment, including programming, maintenance and general operations. Full training will be given.

He/she may be expected to carry out other duties as required which may arise during the course of their employment.

The successful applicant will have the following skills:

· Proven track record in managing people

· Excellent leadership and communication skills

· Strong relationship building skills

· Experience delivering against KPIs

· Excellent customer service skills

· The ability to motivate and develop a team

· Strong IT skills, including MS office word, excel and powerpoint & photoshop

· Experience in stock control, retail operations and cash reconciliation

· Experience in bar management / operations

· High attention to detail

· Flexibility in terms of availability and duties

· A sound knowledge of Health and Safety, including Risk Assessment

· Demonstrate a commitment to increasing turnover and audience figures

· Full, valid UK driving licence and own mode of transport.

A Picturedrome Cinemas Manager will lead and engage their team, driving great customer experience and business growth. They will be directly responsible for defining, setting and implementing the strategy and vision of the business.

Qualifications needed

No formal qualifications are needed, but the successful applicant will have proven management skills and, ideally, have past experience of working in cinema. Experience running a licensed bar is desirable, as is training in film projection. Strong IT skills are essential. The successful applicant will be adept at managing finance and working to an agreed budget.

He / she will be expected to undergo training as required by the Company, and to update their skills and knowledge with regard to health and safety, human resources and general compliance with the Law.

Hours of employment

The job is full time and hours are flexible, the work is mainly afternoons and evenings, and the role requires regular weekend work. Uniform is provided and must be worn at all times. The Manager must be willing to fill in for staff absence, and will be on call in the event of emergencies or for general concerns and may be required to attend the premises. He/she may be expected to work at one of our other sites for the purposes of training or to enable business continuity.
